Applications
Gardia's EPD
Gardia Medical's EPD is a wire-independent, distal filtration     Embolic Protection Device. It is an easy to use, single use and single operator rapid exchange system designed for angioplasty and stenting procedures.

The Gardia EPD filter unit is Delivered, Locked, and Deployed at any location on any standard guide wire, downstream from the stenosis or the stent deployment zone. Its compatibility with standard guide wires and seamless integration with the workflow of interventional procedures promises to set a new standard of care for the cardiovascular intervention field.

Product Description
The Gardia EPD consists of a stand-alone filter unit that can be locked in-situ on any standard guide wire. After inserting the guide wire of choice in the target vessel, the Gardia EPD delivery catheter is loaded and delivered distal to the lesion over the guide wire via a rapid exchange port. Since the Gardia EPD filter is not pre-attached to the distal end of the guide wire, it can be positioned in any location along the vessel to ensure maximal side branch protection.

The Gardia EPD delivery catheter and advanced locking mechanism Delivers, Locks, and Deploys the filter on the guide wire before the therapeutic device (balloon, stent) is introduced. The Gardia EPD filter and the independent guide wire become conjoined, creating an in-situ embolic protection system. At the conclusion of the procedure, the filter/guide wire system is retrieved as a single unit.
